Why is the older site ranking before the newer and better site?

  Zsolt Bégányi: Hi I have a question! There is a website (szatmarmag. mtt. hu) It is about to 6-8 years old, and last year in march, I've created an other site about this company (szatmarmag. hu). My question is that, why is the older site before the site created by me, if you search for (vetőmag mátészalka) . My site is wordpress, seo by yoast is used, seoed for this words. Can you add me some advice, to repair my mistake, and to avoid this in the future? :) (This post is ok? )

  Zsolt Bégányi: Thanks it's a good news for me. If I search in chrome when I logged out, older site is the first hit, the newer is under this by 3 hits with the other sites with google+page and map. (I hope I was ;understandable, sorry for my english )

  Andy Wigglesworth: Hi +Zsolt Bégányi ;Yes, those results still may be personalised to you (even if your logged out) - if you goto your file menu in chrome you should see an option for 'New Incognito Window' - I am on a mac, so this may differ if your on a PC?
  
  The incognito should strip any  ;personalisation for your search query.
  
  And your english is fine.

  Marcel Plaatsman: Google.nl shows the mtt.hu at number one, the second site is ranked lower.
  Older sites do rank better than new ones quite often. I guess it is just a matter of time. The new sites looks better than the old one, there is more text on it, it seems to be SEO-friendly. Ne aggodj :)

  If I google through google.hu the mtt .hu shows first.
  
  And the new site shows as a local listing.
  
  Can you not shut down the old site and create 301 htaccess redirects to the new site? ;

This is my friend's company, but he can't delete or something else couse the company who created the older site is the telecomunnication company as well  ;contracted with my friend. He should delete the whole contract including telecommunication services and web developing services. :S

  Andy Wigglesworth: Ahh, in that case then like +Marcel Plaatsman ;suggests, it might be a matter of time and I agree the new site does look better than the old one - however there are a couple of improvements I would make initially - ;
  
  1) I'd put the address and contact details back on the home page like the old site (it does have some, but it's not clear).
  
  2) The main image in the middle, I notice has text, that text is an image when it really doesn't have to be an image - perhaps convert that back into text?
  
  3) The content still seems quite thin in places
