Please help me to list all of the false claims made in this article.

Please help me to list all of the false claims made in this article.

The first one I saw was " In fact, if your business has 100 followers with active engagement, your Google search engine results position can improve by 14 spots." but I think there might be a few more.   http://socialmediatoday.com/alexandrarose

  • Jim Munro: Please help me to list all of the false claims made in this article.

    The first one I saw was " ;In fact, if your business has 100 followers with active engagement, your Google search engine results position can improve by 14 spots." but I think there might be a few more.
  • Masatake Wasa: I really do hope these peddlers of myths would stop at some point. I think it's faster to list claims that may be correct, reasonable, or defensible, than list all the false claims.
  • Federico Sasso: btw, I suspect the author is not using G+
  • Jim Munro: I think you are right, Federico. :) ;

    I found one bluehead incomplete profile with no public posts ;in that name.
  • Jim Munro: I think this is another porkie: "companies that incorporate hashtags into Google+ posts that match user keyword search results can experience a significant upswing in link clicks and website traffic."
  • Masatake Wasa: It may well be true, but without stats, and a comparison between Google+ posts with and without hashtags, it's difficult to state that it is the incorporation of hashtags that matters.
  • Federico Sasso: What about "Google+ Authorship  ;...[...omissis...]... , and improves search engine rankings" ?
  • Masatake Wasa: Well, it's repeated so often, it must be true ... NOT
  • David Kutcher: Leave comments on the article as I doubt the author is here reading...
  • Jim Munro: Yes Masatake but how is a hashtag in a G+ post going to impact organic search traffic at all, let alone cause a "significant upswing"?
  • Jim Munro: I think you are right, that looks like another fib, Federico. :)

    It seems to me that editorial oversight is on vacation at +Social Media Today ;
  • Masatake Wasa: Good point. I took her argument as posts on a Google+ page may rank higher with hashtags: personally I don't think that's the case, unless searches are conducted for the specific hashtags, and I don't think it will benefit the external site that's linked from the Google+ page in its ranking.
  • Jim Munro: I'm sure you are right +David Kutcher ;but socialmediatoday dot com should be vetting their content and they are on G+.
  • Andrea Pernici: This is a classic example of Crappy Guest Blogging! Food for ;+Matt Cutts ;
  • Federico Sasso: I missed those links +Andrea Pernici ;
    I actually liked the title, it could have made a valuable article if written caring more for content and less for links.
  • Dave Elliott: Social media today post that? They are meant to be credible surely|? (i'd at least heard of them, and pretty sure some of our articles cite them as a source). I'm going to blast this article.
  • Dave Elliott: did find this on the company g+ account....looks
     ;familiar.... http://rocketpost.com/dear-marketers-ignore-google-at-your-own-risk/ ;
  • Jim Munro: That site is listed as malicious on McAfee Site advisor. ;http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/rocketpost.com
  • Dave Elliott: boo its not going to appear 24 hours as i just signed up :(
  • Dave Elliott: oh in terms of lies. ;
    "companies that incorporate hashtags into Google+ posts that match user keyword search results can experience a significant upswing in link clicks and website traffic." No just no.

    "Content linked via Google+ Authorship establishes credibility, increases content reach, and improves search engine rankings – all resulting in greater exposure."

    CTR almost certainly the ones she mentions(well credibility possibly, although if my name appeared against this article it would surely harm my credibility!). NO.

    "Google+ posts have no character limit" its 100k unless its changed since march.

    "Google+ has branded itself as THE social network community for making connections and collaborations"

    When did that happen? I think she just changed the words LinkedIn to Google+
