Dumb SEO Questions

Optimising page speed.

I did  a previous posts regarding above fold maps, i got it answer on her http://dumbseoquestions.com/q/a_question_about_page_loading_speed_related_to_css_and_javascript

was so impressed with that, I found that the template i was using was calling the google maps in every page and not just the contact page I wanted, in short ripped out the code solving the issue.

by doing this and image optimisation i got 88/100 on the google speed test and really want to get a clean sheet now as so close, the last issue are these. (fun ones yey)

Remove render-blocking JavaScript:
http://phcnew.phclaw.netdna-cdn.com/wp-includes/js/jquery/jquery.js?ver=1.10.2

I can remove this via w3c cache however some parts of the site break removing this and deferring it via minify only gains me one point, wish i could remove this but I can live with it, but the good one is below.

Optimize CSS Delivery of the following:
http://phcnew.phclaw.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/cache/minify/000000/03616/default.include.aef077.css

There are options in my theme that allow some basic css control via a options panel, intern this gives me the above that I can`t seem to remove, defer etc... I would love to get your take on this i have been getting the site cleaned up after what i can only describe as horrendous SEO been done So the site, links, UX etc have been priority and really want to box this off. Looking forward to your opinions and ideas

  • W.E. Jonk: Take a look at your head section and at the bottom of the page. Do you need need that many js/css-files? Alternatively you can merge them together.

    Besides that since you do duplicate Twitter cards and OG you might have installed plugins that duplicate each other.

    Although tools like Google's speed test is nice, keep in mind that it is just a tool. Sometimes it helps more to keep the number of installed plugins to a minimum and try to minimize the use of javascript.

    UX is not something that you want to box off because with the use of analytics (like Google Analytics) you can iterate and improve your site over and over again. In other words, there is no such thing as the "perfect" UI...  ;
