Dumb SEO Questions

(Entry was posted by Jamin Rak, LMT on this post in the Dumb SEO Questions community on Facebook, 10/18/2013).

I added my credentials (, lmt) and now my profile picture is no longer being displayed.

I have been having no problem with my authorship and picture being displayed with my website until I added my credentials (, lmt) and now my profile picture is no longer being displayed...is this a glitch, will it just take time to come back, or does Google not like names with a comma and their perspective credentials behind their names? As always, thank you for helping this nob. ;-)

  • Jamin Rak, LMT: I have been having no problem with my authorship and picture being displayed with my website until I added my credentials (,lmt) and now my profile picture is no longer being displayed...is this a glitch, will it just take time to come back, or does Google not like names with a comma and their perspective credentials behind their names? • Masatake Wasa: How did you add LMT to your name, as a nickname? Be mindful of the Google+ names policy: https://support.google.com/plus/answer/1228271.
  • Jamin Rak, LMT: No, I added it at the end of my last name.
  • Masatake Wasa: That would be contrary to the names policy. See above.
  • Jamin Rak, LMT: That's not how I read it, the example given was adding "dr." Or "rev." To your first name... not adding a comma and distinction. Is see Joe Smith, MD all the time. Wouldn't Google flag it if it broke their guidelines? I haven't been flagged...
  • Jamin Rak, LMT: And now my picture is showing up on my pc browser results, just not on my mobile browser.
  • Masatake Wasa: The names policy states: You can include other indications of membership in professional, educational, or societal entities in your profile (for example, “Bill Smithwick DDS”, or “Jim Copley, Esq.”) by adding them in the “Other names” section of your profile.
