  • Seolution: Do I really need to submit to any directories?
  • Federico Sasso: Simply put: No
  • Brent Wildman: Not Simply put: Yes
    Directories are still an important part of local SEO for businesses with physical locations they want customers to visit. Google relies heavily on local citations provided by a number of sources, a.k.a., directories. ;

    Now should you submit your company to 4,000 directories? Absolutely not. Should you submit to several highly authoritative and proven directories to build citations? Of course. ;

    Directories for link building is a terrible idea and is extinct as far as I am concerned. ;

  • Federico Sasso: +Brent Wildman ;just to clarify: I meant No to any directory :)
  • Brent Wildman: +Federico Sasso ;I figured as much, just wanted to provide a little more clarity :)
  • Nishant Desai: Agree with +Brent Wildman ;
  • Alan Smart: Directories are all but dead
  • Clayton-Nichols.com: +Brent Wildman ;said it best. I look for local citations too, while not necessarily linking back per say. Local citations build relevance around the area as well. ;
  • Federico Sasso: +Brent Wildman ;indeed you provided a much more helpful and thorough answer than mine :)
  • Seolution: Thx for your comments :)
