Does anyone know if we can use our keywords as our full name for Google+?

Please HELP! Does anyone know if we can use our keywords as our full name for Google+? Like instead of John Doe can we use "Real estate agent"? The reason I ask is for my business keywords some new agent has appeared on the #1 spot of Google.ca. He was never even on the the top 10 pages, and he doesn`t really have many links or content on his site. All I notice is on his Google plus page he hasn`t used is really name but rather the main keywords. Is this allowed? Any help is appreciated! Thanks so much.

  • Tony McCreath: Google+ pages can be a business so there it is allowed. But a Google+ profile must be a person with a name.

    So check if it is a page or a profile.
  • Vic Singh: It's a Google+ profile only.
  • Justin Y: If its a profile it's against Googles policy. You're safer to use a business page than a profile if you want to use keywords. I'm sure once Google catches on, they will no longer be on top.
  • David Harry: " ;some new agent has appeared on the #1 spot of Google.ca" - Do U mind sharing the query?
  • Vic Singh: Hello +David Harry  ; . If you type in "Brampton real estate agents" in Google.ca you'll see the #1 result (atleast on my side) is freebramptonhomeinfo.com. I had never seen him before. Thanks.
  • Tim Capper: I cant replicate it, cant find their site for that query in .ca and .com
  • David Harry: Yea, it leads to this Google Local listing; ;https://plus.google.com/115358713738149630098/about?hl=en

    But, the the result, actually has the website etc as well. Here;

    Interestingly, it has the "Are you the business owner"" on it, like the person hadn't claimed the page, which they obviously have. And of course the listing leads to Castlemore Real Estate; ;http://freebramptonhomeinfo.com/

    As for their Google local listing, I am pretty sure that one is against the TOS. You are supposed to use the business name, not keywords. ;

    As for the site, it's bloody god awful. Has NO backlinks... weeeeeee.... I assume U don't mind if I pass this one along to someone in Search Quality? ;
  • Vic Singh: +David Harry Yes I don't mind if you pass it along. I figure there's something fishy. It's a super competitive keyword in my area and I've been trying with dear life for the past 7 years to just stay on the 1st page. ; Thanks.
  • Vic Singh: +David Harry ; and to make it worse he also gets a box on the right side of Google showing his Google+ page. Anyone know if you can only get that box if you're ranked #1 on Google for those keywords?
  • John Britsios: Google Plus Best Practices:
    a. For your personal profile use your real name.
    b. For your business page use your business name.

    You still can optimize your personal profile and business pages in the content area.

    All that said, I would be very careful.

  • David Harry: +Vic Singh ;- yea that's one helluva a shit result indeed. I sent it over to a contact in the SQ team at Google. Google ain't perfect and even the SQ likes to know about situations where things have gone awry. Let's keep an eye on it and I'll let you know if I hear back today.
  • Vic Singh: +David Harry ;thanks!
  • Maria Irwin: No, you can't do it. Google will issue them a warning soon.
