    Step 1 - don't do cookie cutter SEO. Worst.Mistake. Ever. We start by talking to our clients and understanding the market, their business and ultimately the query spaces they want to be in. It's always different.

    Step 2 - Don't offer SEO services if you haven't a clue what yer doing. Not trying to be harsh, but it tends to just give us all a bad name.

    Please do bear in mind that if you're operating with "enough knowledge to be dangerous" that you can actually affect people's lives. I can't count how many times over the years I have had to wipe the tears away from small business owners that got bad advice and had lost their business, which took years to build. People feed their children... pay for their home... based on the revenues we generate. This is NOT a game... ;
  • John Britsios: You have no clue about SEO and you want to sell SEO services to a client? Well I also do not want to sound harsh, but +David Harry ; is right.To be more specific, that is totally unethical.
  • Julia Hernandez: I'm not "selling" SEO to clients. I was recently promoted into the SEO dept and am being trained but I was curious as to how other SEO experts handle their clients. I've also heard about the non-experienced ppl giving SEO a bad name. Definitely don't want to fall under that category. I appreciate all the tips guys!
  • Ankit Meena: Research research research...
  • David Harry: Cool Julia... again, the most important thing to learn is every situation, client, budget, keywords, competitors will be different. Resist the urge to do cookie cuter SEO. That's my best advice. ;
  • Julia Hernandez: +David Harry ;Thanks again! ;
