What is new profile views thing about?

Hi, I`m curious. What is new profile views thing about?
It just popped up this instant for me, as I looked at some guy`s profile and noticed he had 12, 000 followers | 240, 000 views. By the time I returned to my own profile, I noticed there was a view counter there as well.
Funny I didn`t notice it a second before. ?

Karl B. Hille: I think it's been there - just how many total likes/plusses you've ever gotten (for profile, posts, comments, etc)
