  • Tim Capper: You need to use href=lang for each country and of course provide tranlated versions of thses page for users to read in that country. No point showing an english page in china for example

  • Neil Cassels: What do you mean exactly? providing different content for different regions? geo-targeting affiliate ads like amazon? or targeting your sites organic search hits to a region?
  • Jamie Slater: Well the site is for an offline service which is available worldwide. So yes no matter where the person is searching from and if they add their own or a location to the keywords the page will still rank. I have never done this sort of thing before but I'm looking forward to it, just a bit in the dark about how to do it properly. I will be using a .com and not individual correct country domains. I know that individually created pages is not the answer as there will be similar content. Also there is only so much I can put in a page title. I use wp so I am presuming a plugin but I know that I can do certain things with webmaster tools too. Not sure too if the country of hosting will alter things either. Any advice greatly appreciated

  • Jamie Slater: I say the world but really English speaking nations but thanks
  • Michael Baggelin: You need a different domain for each language to make this properly for SEO ;)
  • Simon Hill: You can use a geotargeting plugin like wpmarketingsuite.com , which allows you to use GeoIP rules to switch content. In Google`s eyes this is not cloaking, as long as google from that country, and a user from that country see the same content.
