  • Vannessa Uhlein: No....that's an old legend :)
  • Federico Sasso: No.
    From time to time someone publishes a flawed article pretending to demonstrate it, but there is no real evidence, and has been several times denied (at least by Google, I can't say about other search engines, but I expect it to be the same)
  • Matt Raynes: Hey Van, I know its often been bounded about but it does seem to keep rearing its ugly head http://www.getfoundfirst.com/ppc-affecting-seo/
    Thanks for your input Fed.
  • Andrea Pernici: Looking it in a direct way absolutely not!
    It can only affect the personalized search if you already visited that page, but obviously it's not about increasing budget, but make the user visit the page.
  • Dave Elliott: The answer should be no. But, i am never convinced. Personalisation could be an issue BUT also, traffic going to site is an oft debated ranking factor (i currently think it is a factor) soooooo, if you run a ppc campaign that generates a very high amount of hits, I wouldn't be shocked if Google decides to start thinking it is a more important page.

    I could be wrong though (as in i am making this up) and lets face it, it would be good business sense from Google to not start ranking pages better after a successful adwords campaign so that they can sell more adwords!
  • Vannessa Uhlein: +Matt Raynes ;People see what they want to see.... :) Exactly in thi case, do you see the ratings? Buildasign has almost 400 reviews by humans....That definitely influences in Ad Quality Score and in the organic ranking position!  ;I agree with others that it may influence in personalised SERP because Google uses to rank visited pages higher.
  • Matt Raynes: I agree with all of you. ; Bounce rates are certainly an algo factor so I suppose if certain algo boxes are ticked then potentially by increasing PPC budget to stimulate traffic could result in an improvement in organic positioning?
  • Brent Wildman: I agree with +Dave Elliott ;
    If you have a rockin PPC campaign that's getting tons of click with a low bounce rate and a good bit of interaction. Then it would make sense that your organic rankings would rise due to this. Unless Google disregards paid search traffic when considering ranking factors.
  • Andrea Pernici: The fact that a campaig rocks can lead to non-direct advantages so the metric is not the PPC campaign, but the fact that it works!

    Said that your ranking get better cause probably your website is interesting for your users and they will share, link, talk about it.

    There is no direct influence. The answer is absolutely not if meant to be a direct causation.
