How can we re-purpose blog content for LinkedIn etc to improve SEO without being penalized for duplicating content?

Hi All! I`m hoping you might be able to help:
In a post-Panda world, how can we re-purpose blog content for LinkedIn etc to improve #SEO and without being penalized for duplicating #content online? Obviously a cut-and-paste job is out but if the content is so similar but reformatted, is that enough?
Any help would be gratefully received! Thanks.?

  • Clicks and Clients, Inc.: I totally understand your frustration and dare I say your temptation to simply cut and paste to get eyes on your content.  ;My best advice is to write up an intro to your article posted elsewhere and simply link to that article.  ;Maybe play-up the prestige of being published at "such-and-such" website. Good Luck! +Austin Faux ;
  • Iwebslog Labs: Yes, +Bree Colavin +Anna Lawlor Cut Paste is absolutely fine. Just remember to post first on your own blog and ping it. wait for few hours and then post it on Linkedin and give a original source link back to your blog.

    A reformatted text or alternate synonyms or same meaning words are of no use. Search Engines can detect this.
  • Jignesh Gohel: I had a same question and i tested the same by re-publishing one of my article at Linkedin and can you guess what happen next? ;

    The duplicate article published at Linkedin started ranking on some competitive keywords as compare to original content.

    Why big brands can enjoy better search position even after publishing duplicate content? i have seen same case for Yahoo finance, and other news websites who are publishing same content and enjoy ranks where as small brands who work hard by publishing original content have to suffer.

    I personally do not like publishing same content over different websites. As suggested by +Bree Colavin ;better we put introduction and share link to original source.

    Share your thoughts on Why big brand can still rank on duplicate content? ;

    Note: I know domain authority plays an important role but do you really think this is fare? ;
  • Anna Lawlor: Thanks +Clicks and Clients, Inc. +Bree Colavin +Iwebslog Labs +Jignesh Gohel for your responses - I really appreciate you taking the time. I personally prefer the idea of an exec summary and then a link to the original article/post. However, our clients often want re-purposed content for LinkedIn irrespective and we want to ensure this doesn't damage their SEO. It's a tough one. Thanks again.
