  • Girish Kapoor: When a client (or company) does not want to include an address on their website for privacy reasons, what is the best way to present the business as a legitimate with search engines?
  • Jon Tromans: PO Box can be a good idea.

A lot of accountants let you use their office for mail ... for a fee.

Just put a generic address... London, UK or Dudley, West Midlands...
  • Iblis Bane: As long as the generic address is the same everywhere, you can probably technically maintain NAP consistency, but it might affect local optimisation though.
  • Carl Harvey: If you are in the EU and you sell online then you must put your business address on the site...by law

  • Iblis Bane: Also, I don't know how credible I would find a business that does not disclose their location. ; (Of course, if people run a business from home, for example, I could understand why they wouldn't want to. ; Doesn't help the credibility issue though.)
  • Jon Tromans: In the UK you can rent a business address from Regus so you end up with a nice "business centre" or "enterprise park" address for your website.

When I buy online from companies I've never heard from I always look for an address... as +Iblis Bane ;said, credibility.
  • Girish Kapoor: Thanks to all 4 your nice information....
