Dumb SEO Questions

The validation seems to have dropped the number of reached Goals in GA, is there an ethical way to solve this?

A few months ago, I updated a lead form in an attempt to get more qualified leads.  Although the number of questions went from 4 to 16, the layout performed well, doubling the number of leads (while making them more qualified).  Having the more qualified leads, I set up the Goal in GA, and reaped the benefits of more visitors.

Last month I added more validation and improved the user interface (while converting the program from a 3rd party handler to in-house so I would have better reporting).  Although the client is happy to have the more usable leads and reporting, the validation seems to have dropped the number of reached Goals.

I am tempted to direct those leads that fail validation to another Goal page to regain the traffic, however, I was wondering if there is a more ethical way? (The value of the validated leads is much more, but with only one real Goal tracking funnel, increasing the value in GA Goals does not seem like it would be the most effective answer)

  • Clicks and Clients, Inc.: +Ryan Cramer ;What do you mean by GA goals and how is that different than qualified leads?
  • Ryan Cramer: Hi C+C, GA goals are simply the pages I've configured in Google Analytics as my end page. Mainly giving a money value to each form filled out.

I was running into an issue where the sales team could not handle the volume of leads coming in (roughly 100 leads per salesperson per day). Since I am not the sales floor manager, the only thing I could do so they weren't wasting leads or rushing through the good ones was to add more validating questions so the salesfloor would have the most qualified and prioritized leads. (This tactic increased sales 30% for the month).

The problem is, with filtering the leads to only the best qualified leads, it seems Google saw less engagement on the goals.  ;This triggers the algorithm to say that the site is not as successful (even though it is financially more successful).

Today I increased the value in GA Goals to represent a higher value for the more qualified leads.  ;But this seems to be a quantity vs quality issue that I don't know if the algorithm is prepared to assess properly.

The cuetimes listed on this page are functional while the live broadcast continues and also once Youtube has finished processing the public broadcast. Processing time varies between 6-24 hours. During this period the clip is viewable in full but the cuetimes cannot be relied on.
