Dumb SEO Questions

This is long, sorry, but it`s a question, I promise!

This is long, sorry, but it`s a question, I promise!
My company has a real estate website. We have a special Terms Acceptance page that is used when a visitor wants to view a certain type of property listing on our website. We haven`t had any of those types of properties on our website in about two months.

Our traffic has increased because of a influx in high-end properties, which is normal for us. However, the Terms Acceptance page is our most visited page, which makes no sense from an access standpoint. It can only be accessed via a property of a certain type, of which there are none and haven`t been any for a while.

The page is disallowed in robots.txt and I can`t find it in search engines when I do my own searches. Most visits are direct and organic. The referral path for a huge majority of the visits is "not set". The Next Page Path and the Destination Page are the same page.

Any ideas how people are landing on this page or why it`s the most visited? I feel silly for not understanding what`s going on! Thank you!?

  • Cristian Oana: This sounds more like a problem of analytics tracking than anything else.

    I would use the httpfox extention and look at what the tracking code outputs. ;

    I would also look at webmasters tools to see what keywords the page is ranking.
  • Brianna Young: Oh, I should have included the fact that I'm concerned that this means this page is grabbing traffic that I'd rather have land on the home page (or other landing pages). I want to make sure it isn't traffic that could be converted to a sale. Does this make sense? Thank you!
  • Cristian Oana: Look at webmaster tool by page and you'll have your answer.
