I have a question which has been bugging me for week

Hi! I have a question which has been bugging me for weeks.
When I do a Google search for one of my websites, I always get a site of a partner in the results. But when I check his website, there is NO trace to be found that my name is on his page? I have looked at the code of the website, but it is just not there? Anyone??

Tony McCreath: Maybe there are links to his website with link text matching your search term?
Dennis van Leeuwen: You mean links on my site to HIS website?
Tony McCreath: If your partners website has links to it with your name in the links then it will help them rank for your name.
Dennis van Leeuwen: okay, but shouldn't these links be visible on his website? ;because they are nowhere to be found.
Tony McCreath: The links are on other websites but point to his website.
Dennis van Leeuwen: okay, now I ;understand :-)
