Dumb SEO Questions

Recently I received my 20th Google review.

Hi,
recently I received my 20th Google review - it put me in the "A" position in places for a major search term.  I was there for about 3 days and then disappeared.  Then I got my 21st Google review and I was back at the top for 2 days and then gone again.  Why does this keep happening?  Is there something I need to do to make it "stick"? ?

  • Yasser Mohamed: Hi,
    recently I received my 20th Google review - it put me in the "A" position in places for a major search term. ; I was there for about 3 days and then disappeared. ; Then I got my 21st Google review and I was back at the top for 2 days and then gone again. ; Why does this keep happening? ; Is there something I need to do to make it "stick"? ;
  • Steve Kilbride: While I don't know anything specific to reviews, I do know that Google has many different data centres.  ;These centres don't all have the same information at the same time.  ;So fluctuations can be expected especially on the short term.
  • Yasser Mohamed: Thanks +Steve Kilbride . ; I noticed this week that Google has made a new business page for me - I already have a verified business page so I am not sure why - except that I was told not to delete it as that would also delete my places listing. ; The advice I got was to contact Google and ask them to merge the 2. ; Do you think this might have something to do with me appearing and disappearing?
  • Steve Kilbride: That's a little outside of my knowledge base, +Yasser Mohamed ;:-)  ;I haven't been following all the recent changes in these things.  ;There seems to be a lot of confusion over pages, listings, etc. Maybe a search for a very recent article from a credible site will help.  ;(That wouldn't be me.) :-)
  • Shawn Cohen: The rankings fluctuation can vary from keyword to keyword so I doubt this new G+ page has much to do with it.
    I would advise you to use a tool like www.semrush.com to see who is beating your page and why (do they outnumber for links, domain authority, page authority, more on-page content, etc.) and then see where your page is lacking and seek to improve it or refocus for a less-competitive keyword.
  • Yasser Mohamed: Great thanks for the advice +Shawn Cohen - I will check that out.
  • Graphics Online: Seems a few received a duplicate Google+ page over the last few days (we did) so I doubt it's related to your reviews question +Yasser Mohamed ; ;
