I`ve read that you can build up links to your website by for e.g forums. However, I would imagine that most forums that do allow a link in your signature - these would be `no follow` links? Is this true? ?

  • D Moran: I've read that you can build up links to your website by for e.g forums. However, I would imagine that most forums that do allow a link in your signature - these would be 'no follow' links? Is this true?
  • David Kutcher: Yea... I would look for a better content/dissemination strategy than trolling forums
  • Marilyn Moran: Only use targeted forums if you can add genuine value to it; if you're there simply for backlinks, you'll get sniffed out pretty quickly.
  • D Moran: Ok that's what I thought ... Thanks for the clarification..
  • Lori Eldridge: What you need is a balance in the type of links you focus on: some blogs, some forums, some websites, some relevant directories, and social activity. Use mostly your business name for anchor text (or generic text like your name or a nickname) and change the description often.
