Is it advisable to implement noindex, nofollow on paginated pages?

A real estate client is considering a CMS migration to a more MLS-friendly platform. I noticed in an example domain that uses the CMS, they have rel=prev/next implemented properly but also have nonindex, nofollow tags on pages 2, 3, 4, etc.

Is it advisable to implement those tags along w/ prev/next? Thanks for your help!?

  • Dave Elliott: I cant imagine the point of those two tags being used togther.

    What do you mean by mls? Its not a term I have come across before? Multi lingual?
  • eBizWebpages: MLS = Multiple Listing Service
    It's where all real estate for sale is listed so that all realtors, brokers, and buyers can access.
  • Shawn Cohen: Yeah, didn't make sense to me either since the point of prev/next is to avoid duplicate content to begin w/. ;
  • Matt Raynes: I just came across this that reminded me of your question ;http://www.cpcstrategy.com/blog/2012/06/pagination-faceted-navigation-seo-adam-audette-smx/  ;
    I think it goes some way in giving a good explanation of what you've come across.
  • Shawn Cohen: Good ol' Adam Audette comes through again, thanks Matt.
