Dumb SEO Questions

I have a technical question regarding redirects.

Hey there.

I have a technical question regarding redirects.  It`s pretty complicated and it would be best if somebody PM`d me.  I`ll do my best to explain.

Long story short I have a client that moved his site from WP to a real estate oriented platform.  Since he`s moved, his site has completely tanked in rankings.

A few issues with this  platform. All posts and site pages edited on a custom url  for example.  http://domain-name.bilt.me  which then 301 redirect to http:domainname.com

Google webmaster tools  shows this http://built..me   as the most linking site.  It gets even worse as most of the subpages have 30 links or so of random links from this http://built..me  urls.   (see screen shot)

I have  a Moz acct and I have anywhere from 400 to 1500 pages with duplicate content.  The duplicate content fluctuates on a daily bases!

Its gets worse.  The blog portion of his site is in WPMU.  Before he switched developers, his blog post structure was domainname.com /postname.  Now it`s    domainname/2013/11/sample-post/.

BUT domainname/2013/11/sample-post/  is what indexes on google but it 301 redirects to domainname.com /postname..

I`m really not sure what to do. I`m assuming these issues are causing me  major problems.  Do we get this developer to try to fix the issues or ditch him.

Any input would be appreciated! ?

  • W.E. Jonk: I get:

    Site not found - bilt.me
  • Jay Dutton: Yes, it's weird.  ; I'd rather not post the url but ;

  • W.E. Jonk: I see. I did a site:bilt.me and your site is indexed as a subdomain of bilt dot me? I.e. example.com.bilt.me
  • Jay Dutton: It's not indexed and all the urls are 301 redirects.  ;
  • Krishna eTravelSmart: I think it not going to cause big problem, once your main site got indexed, Dont worry about subdoamins, they wont help you any more, better remove all those from Google search. I hope you got my point.. ;
