Dumb SEO Questions

Do keywords in page filename and parameters matter?

Hi everyone.
From what I know it helps to have a page with your keyword (ex:yellow-banana.aspx), would it have the same `weight` in a search engine to have page.aspx?id=yellow-banana  ?
Thanks!?

  • Nico Masse: Hi everyone.

    Thanks!
  • Bjarne Ravn: Its better, Nico, to set up your URLs to permalinks like http://yourdomain.com/yellowbanana
  • Joseph Paulino: I agree with +Bjarne Ravn. You can have the page setup like in your first example too which is yellow-banana.aspx. Also, the easier the URL to remember the better. And, the nearer your keyword to the front is better as well, yellow-banana.aspx?price=10 is better than page.aspx?id=yellow-banana.
  • Saijo George: If every thing else stays the same it might have a tiny bit of effect to have it as key-word.aspx . i would recommend to set it up as that from the start but I don't see the value in changing it on an established site since the value it offers might not be worth the effort.
  • Nico Masse: Great! Thanks guys for your replies! This is a new website so I will set it up to use /yellowbanana.
  • Saijo George: +Nico Masse good luck with the new site
