Justin Y: It shouldn`t. gzip should help speed things up and not all servers directly support gzip. Sometimes you have to enable it yourself if you`re using a vps or dedicated server.
Do you enable gzip compression on your web server? Does it add an extra load to your server, as far as RAM and CPU resources?
