Dumb SEO Questions

Brand name in title tag.

Should you put your brand name in your title tag so it`s Keyword - Brand? Also if you`re trying to optimize locally and the name of the city is already part of your brand name, do you need the city name next to the keyword in the title tag as well??

  • Dave Elliott: This pretty much got answered in this weeks hangout other than the locale part.

  • Iblis Bane: Personally, I favour including the brand name in the title at the end. ; If you're very brand focused, (expecting a lot of brand searches) you may consider putting it first on the home page title only.

As to your other question, in theory you probably don't need to include the location if it is in your brand. ; It may make sense to do it in the context of the page, but generally my opinion would be only if it really made sense in that context...perhaps if you had different store locations in other places, and that was the store page for that city. ; Otherwise, I'm not sure if it's tipping too far toward "keyword heavy" in your title.
