    I am not an expert but I don't think anything is dead. Links are still required to make a site favoured and blogging has been popularly used for human interaction on the internet for ten years or more.

    Stupid tricks were always stupid, so maybe they only worked until they became effective enough to be noticed. If you want to endure, don't do stupid things but don't let that dissuade you from seeking links and blogging might be part of that.

  • Patrick Coombe: Also agree, none of this is dead. Read sites like Moz / inbound and adapt that style of thinking when doing SEO. "building links" yourself is definitely something that is going to get you very far for very long, but there are still a ton of different methods that will get you great results.

    The marriage of SEO / PR / UX/ etc has all taken on a new industry. It is hard to do one without the other. Curating phenomenal content will get you really far. Always go for the "long game."
  • John DOZ: There's never enough content, so we should stick with it. Plus, social media and mobile optimized websites seem to be part of the 2014 trends.
  • al morris: I think the key to great content is to set a stopwatch for time spent on social media. lol.
  • PK Group: I believe Site Speed is also something for everybody to look at more in 2014. Even if it only improves user experience, this could be something that helps sites in the long run. ;
