3 questions here about Google indexed pages and images:
1 - Im using a SEO tool bar for my browser, usually pretty accurate, it tells me for one site Ive been working on that the number of Google indexed pages is 2, 000 and that numbers been steadily rising, however in Google WMT in the sitemaps area it shows only about 1, 200 indexed and this number hasnt been increasing. The sitemap was only added about a week ago though. Which is the most accuarte here?
2 - As I said above WMT shows around 1, 200 pages indexed and this is from about 1, 800 submitted pages, I have hundreds of image gallery pages too though each with about 10 images but the number of images submitted is only 140 and number indexed only 110, why so low?
3 - Is having the image filename, title tag and alt text all the same for an image ok? EG `A-red-ball-in-the-garden` as the text for all three? Is having hyphens like that in between words for the alt text ok too? I had hundreds of uploaded images that didnt have proper filenames, titles or alt text and didnt have time to go back and edit them all manually so I used a WP plugin to manually rename & retitle all the files so that the fielname and title were both the same then used a MYSql injection to force change the alt text for every image and make it the same as the title tag but after seeing how few images are getting indexed Im wondering if I should just bite the bullet and go back and manually redo the alt text for all....?
