Claim ownership of a Google+Local page.

So, I have a client who was working with another Marketing company. They set up a Google+Local page, but never gave the client ownership.  They also refuse to give ownership. We are trying to claim it through the normal process, but after weeks, we get nothing back from Google. Does anyone know how to get this resolved.?

  • Mike Stetzer: I can tell you that one of our former employees created a page for our business, and we attempted to contact Google to get ownership of the page. They refused to tell us who created the page because of privacy concerns. We never resolved the issue :(. I hope you have better success than I did!
  • Stephen Steele: +Mike Stetzer ;Not what I was hoping to hear. I've been down a lot of rabbit holes on this one though, and that is almost always the result. ;
  • Thomas Hale, Jr.: So... Are you talking about a Google+ page, or the Google local(?) listing with the business address, etc. (that you "claim" by post card)?

    No one but the business, at the address on that listing/page should have been able to get the post card with the PIN to "claim" your local listing page.

    If it's a G+ page, then I wonder - If you un-link it from the official website, would that un-verify that G+ page?
  • Patrick Coombe: Like +Thomas Hale, Jr. ; mentioned, if you have access to the phone number that is currently on the page or access to the mailbox at that address, you can re-verify the listing.
  • PK Group: Hi +Stephen Steele, we had a very similar problem to this regarding our Google Plus page and local listing. We eventually got this problem resolved by creating another Google Plus business page, and requesting the verification postcard. When we verified the new listing, we reported the old one as a duplicate. After doing this, our new page was considered the 'verified' local listing. We also spoke to a support team member over the phone, who helped us through the process. Hope this helps, we feel your pain with this one! PK Group
