What effect, (negative or positive), will placing more than one similar link (different params) on a website?

Can someone please tell me what effect (negative or positive) placing more than one similar link (different params) on a website will have.  The links point to a relevant, related site with content.

I'm not sure if Google can handle and process information about selling/buying links without going deep in the link network manually. For example in Poland there is a huge link selling network - not only from the anchors in text but also from banners and other formats. You can choose to place link in the text, sitewide, or maybe under the img with relevant alt text. What is more - you can mark them as nofollow while buying.

Is Google punishing for that? Not yet. It is still link for them. The biggest problem is the scheme the link networks are using.

+Edward Taupier  ;the more links you place, the less they can do. I would rather choose one, maybe two of them and use rel="nofollow" for rest of them.
