Is an SEO firm that has little or no presence here on G+ really worth considering?

Is an SEO firm that has little or no presence here on G+ really worth considering?  I personally wouldn`t suggest any firm that didn`t have at least some level of engagement on here, but I would like to know what other people think. So the main question to all you experts is....

Do you think clients/customers would refuse to hire your firm if you were not here on Google plus?!?

(I made the image for a laugh, take no offence to it)

  • SEMrush: Agree! Already now, after all analisys that showed Google+ had a long-term impact on the ranking, SEO firm's ignorance of G+ would be an alarm.
  • Dave Sutton: I love the image and if anyone takes offence I will set my missus Dot onto them.
    Google+ is not really recognised as a major player in social networking by many of my friends and at the moment the only advantage that I'm aware of is the rich snippet appearing in Google search results. ;

    Quite a few experts believe (according to webmasterworld) that G+ will have little effect on SEO.
    Time will tell and if it does it will be too late for many.
  • SEMrush: +Dave Sutton G+ for sure doesn't have a major effect on SEO, but it helps) We've recently posted Brian Dean's analysis of 5 case studies about impact of social signals ; on SEO and G+ seems to be the only good one for it) http://www.semrush.com/blog/publications/social-signals-seo-results-five-case-studies/  ;
  • Dave Sutton: +SEMrush  ;  ;I think that ;Mark Traphagen's comment on the bottom of that page says it all.
    I'm not actually here from an SEO point of view and I just use G+ as it is supposed to be used but I do find it interesting that many SEO consultants have started to join my circles.

    Are they interested in my animations?
  • SEMrush: +Dave Sutton haha, they are fun to watch, for sure! :)
  • Russell Deasley: Everyone loves an animation!  ;Thanks for the feedback, seems to be quite a split opinion. ;
  • Simon Fryer: Hi +Russell Deasley  ;Interesting question. ;

    I wouldn't evaluate an agency based on whether or not they have a presence on Google+. Some agencies generate most of their business through referrals and PR as opposed to search, and perhaps don't have the time to shmooze people on G+. Other people may have plenty of time on their hands for it because they can't win/keep clients. Just food for thought :)

    In terms of whether or not they do it for clients; whilst we know G+ has some impact on search performance, an agency has to measure time spent vs reward to deliver the best return for clients.  ;G+ engagement probably isn't the most effective strategy to deliver for a client at this point. ;
  • Russell Deasley: Fair point, and a very valid comment. Nice one +Simon Fryer  ;
