Dumb SEO Questions

Is Keyword stuffing dead?

I thought Keyword stuffing was dead?

I recently had occasion to do a Google search for “Emergency Dentist”

Top organic result, ahead of all local results, was
http://www.1800dentist (dot) com/emergency-dentist/

There are only about 300 words on this page, over 20 of which are “Emergency” and over 20 of which are “Dentist”ish. I would have thought that might be considered stuffing it but if it is then it isn`t doing the page any harm and I wonder if it isn`t why it is ranking so well.

Any thoughts??

  • Net Visibility Group: +Ed Barnat really frustrating! Penalizes those companies that are creating #releventcontent & Still have very spammy sites out there! #google #eugeneoregon #internetmarketing #spam
  • Dave Elliott: I am disturbed by the lack of the word 'an' in front of 'emergency dentist' in the copy on several occasions.

It is very very close to the line of being keyword stuffing but it doesn't actually read THAT badly(it at least makes sense, even if it is rubbish copy) I suspect this is on the line rather than over it.

I am however, really concerned that i can't find that page in the nav structure anywhere. That is surely a massive no, no...unless i am missing something.

The cuetimes listed on this page are functional while the live broadcast continues and also once Youtube has finished processing the public broadcast. Processing time varies between 6-24 hours. During this period the clip is viewable in full but the cuetimes cannot be relied on.
  • Ed Barnat: Thank you ;+Dave Elliott. you are right. It does not read badly. Perhaps I have been being overly paranoid about what is meant by keyword stuffing. Maybe that is why +Micah Fisher-Kirshner ;seemed to get a flustered when he tried to address my question in this week's hangout.  ;Initially, I thought he sounded like he might have been the page's author and I had exposed him and his foul ways. Now, I am starting to think he was desperately searching for a polite way to tell me to stop being such a fool and learn to appreciate the work of a true pro.

Is that it?  ;Is this the way it is or should be done? Wow, if it is what kind of jerk would I be to complain to Google about the page and its creator? I appreciate the link +Arthur Radulescu ; and will keep if for use in the future. Especially, if I decide NOT to employ the techniques in question ;)
  • Micah Fisher-Kirshner: +Ed Barnat: Nah, I just can seem flustered when I try to find the right way to explain grayness/scales. :)

I see Google hitting on blatant really heavy keyword stuffing, but that page content is... well, I don't want to say well-built, but say, less obvious, and that isn't what Google focuses on.
  • Micah Fisher-Kirshner: Well, that and it's 5AM when talking about these topics for me...
  • Ed Barnat: +Micah Fisher-Kirshner ;Thanks, Micah. Starting to wish I were brave enough and smart enough to write like that.
