Any ideas regarding this paradox?

Hi All,

I have been working on a project site called "oneirokritis" which in Greek means Dream Books. The term is very popular in Greece and has 300.000 monthly local searches. Although all of the metrics, apart from site age, illustrated in this screenshot are better from the first page competitors, the site yet ranks fifth on SERPs.

Any ideas regarding this paradox? ?

  • Federico Sasso: Hi. I wouldn't call it a paradox: ;
    none of those metrics is guaranteed to reflect the search engine (Google?) internals.

    + PA, mozRank: not Google metrics (assuming G is the SE)
    + (toolbar) PR: a rough and out-of-date approximation of the real PR
    + Page links: doesn't say much about their quality/toxicity/pertinance
    + Juice Page Links: I don't know how they are computed, not a G metrics for sure
    + Site Age: as far as I know doesn't have an impact in ranking (just it's more likely a site gets more links as time goes by).

    I guess you'll need a closer inspection to all those links to get a clue.
  • Vangelis Kovaios: Hi Federico, thanks for your answer, i agree that link analysis could provide more detail on the real backlink value or toxicity of results, but i reckon that DA and especially PA (although not official Google metrics) are accurate enough to reflect the ranking value of a webpage or justify patterns in rankings.
  • Federico Sasso: Not sure they are that accurate Vangelis, they can't take into account possible G's algorithmic devaluation/"juice-dilution". I'm talking about duplicate content issue, site-wide links, comment links, let alone candidate victims of monochromatic animal :)
    They might "accurate enough" on average for a very large base of sites, but for five sites alone.. I wouldn't bet on them.
    btw: what's KC?
  • Vangelis Kovaios: Thanks for your comment Federico. KC is an alternative of Keyword
    Difficulty...
