  • Neeraj Kumar: What is exact matched keyword? People says that links with exact matched keywords are and will be ignored and penalised by search engines.
    My blog is knkayastha(dot) com, my blog name is Lotus Heart of a Hindi Poet, my name is Neeraj Kumar, I post hindi poems, and English Translation of Hindi Poem, most visit come from word Hindi organic and paid. So what is my exact matched keyword for my blog and blogpost links?
  • Devin Peterson: In terms of Paid Search, an Exact Match is when a search query is exactly the same as a keyword that you are bidding on via Adwords, organically it's when the search query is exactly the same as a keyword/phrase on your webpage. The word 'exactly' should be self explanatory.

    In terms of linking, Exact Match probably means that the anchor text of different backlinks are exactly the same, too much of that can be an indicator of spam, however, if it's not actually spam then don't even worry.
  • Neeraj Kumar: Then +Devin Peterson, if i hyperlink 'Hindi poem' and 'English Poem' i e translation of hindi poem, it will not taken as spam because generally there are no such words in poem body, title or even in url and the both are actually related? I have nothing to fear about!
  • Devin Peterson: +Neeraj Kumar ;lol, yes I would say you have nothing to fear in that regard. In fact, what you are describing seems like exactly the right thing to do. Have you considered using schema microformats for your poems and translations? This is a bit advanced and requires coding knowledge...
  • Neeraj Kumar: Not exactly. But i do have working knowledge of coding as well as schema microformats but don't know that poem and its translation has seperate schema. Tell something more... +Devin Peterson
  • SeoWix: +Neeraj Kumar ;i seem you are asking Exact Match Domain (EMD). as per your above description. you don't fall in any of these categories.
    for example. if your main targeted keyword was "Hindi Poems" and you r domain name is hindipoems dot com, that would be an EMD. ;
    having an EMD is not bad at all, as it was propagated by google some time ago.
    i can still see most of the EMD's websites are still ranking high on SERPs on some very competitive KWs
  • Neeraj Kumar: Thanks for clarifying +SeoWix...
  • Lori Eldridge: It sounds like you are concerned with the exact match penalty for domain names. As long as you don't try to get a majority of links with that anchor text and optimize your site for those words, you should be fine. Sites usually rank #1 for their domain name anyway, unless there is a penalty.
