shameer hasan: Hello everyone, Is blog commenting a effective Seo method ? ;
Citation Gurus: Only in moderation. I actually had a blog by Matt Cutt's up on my profile and he said if you use it use your name not your keyword and don't rely on it as your main marketing strategy. It has become to spammy of a practice but if you do a few on high quality sites you can get them to link back to you a few times. I have seen site pro news and others link to me 5 times or more from a few great quality comments. Also use your name not your keyword as +Jeremy Estes ;said.
Jeremy Estes: If you do it right, it can be a good part of your inbound link mix.
What I mean by right, is to use it the way it's intended... add to the conversation and dont ancho r text spam every blog you encounter.
shameer hasan: Thanks for helping ,btw so if i post quality relevant comment in a good pr Blog they will link back to me after some time . :o , didnt know that, sorry but im new , i just commented in few good pr blog ,the mod approved my comment but the link isnt showing up yet, any ideas ?
Citation Gurus: did you put the link in your comment or just in the website section? That shows up in your name. It turns your name into a link that links to your website.
shameer hasan: not in my blog , other people's blog/site , i used Google queries to find good blogs with good pr who allows website,name and comment .they approved my comment a few weeks ago but the backlink i created for my website is not showing in link analysis report , its been a week ,i mean does it take a lot of time to update links i created ;for my site.
Citation Gurus: When your filling out ;the comment section of a site if it has a website url section and you put that in it turns your name or text you put in as name into a link to the site you put up. I use majestic seo to check links because google can take a few weeks to find all links linking to you but usually majestic finds them quicker so I have an idea of who is linking to me and how many times.
shameer hasan: Thanks again for helping, that will solve the problem for now. :D
Jim Munro: I'm not sure. I am not an expert by any measure but I guess if the link is followed and only in moderation it might be worth your time, Shameer.
The DSQ site added a nofollow link to the comments on Matt Cutt's blog a few weeks ago. It was worth 7 visits on the first day, 2 on the second and none since. It's hard to see that as useful for the effort.
shameer hasan: +Jim Munro ;Thanks sharing that , i guess this result can be maximized if i maintain the quantity and regularity (also quality ^_^) then , hopefully from all this it can turn out quite useful i think.
Jason Menezes: Nope. Maybe you can get some traffic. But you won't get any juice.
Jim Munro: I did not explain myself very well, Shameer, sorry. :) ;
I am probably the last person you should take advice from but I don't think it's worth the effort. I think there are plenty of other more useful tasks that you could spend your time on.
If the link is followed, then that's a different story but if a followed link is freely available, it's value must be questioned.
Kuldeep Singh: If you are working in 2010 or 2011 then definitely yes. It's really working. ;
But ;
If you talk now then No, Not at all. Google doesn't care what the comments are saying. ;
Matt cutts said that even you have poor english in comments, so don't worry Google doesn't look over them. They don't actually get considered. They are just indicating the engagement numbers a blog post is having.
The more comments you'd have the more traffic and more social metrics.
So getting comments is Good but commenting on other for link is worst SEO thing now.
