Dumb SEO Questions

(Entry was posted by Kia Kamgar on this post in the Dumb SEO Questions community on Facebook, 02/15/2014).

Is there a way to point a domain name to a Google+ page?

So here`s a dilemma for you SEO guys to ponder...

This question is two fold, as I was typing my original post for another community I thought it might be a good idea to get an SEO standpoint regarding this matter.

So the question is; Would this impact the SEO ranking of you domain? (if this could be done, see below)

Is there a way to point a domain name to a Google+ page?

I know you can set the CNAME to ghs.google.com for Blogger but can this same method (or similar) be done with Google+ profile or page?

This would be interesting if rather than having hosting for you domain you just point it, at domain hosting level via DNS.

I know Kevin Rose has done this, just wondering how he`s doing it, whether it`s at DNS level or just a 301 redirect...

Would be great to have your thoughts on this.

  • Dave Elliott: Nothing stopping you doing a 301 redirect. very much doubt you can do it via dns.

No idea how it would rank.
  • Pe lagic: Use a 302 ;)
