Under the schema, would you call booking a flight a product or an article?

I`ve got a webpage which is about Kulula Airlines flights from Johannesburg to Cape Town. This provides information about the airline`s flights on the route, and there`s an opportunity to book a flight.

Under the schema, would you call this a product or an article??

  • Rob Baker: I've got a webpage which is about Kulula Airlines flights from Johannesburg to Cape Town. This provides information about the airline's flights on the route, and there's an opportunity to book a flight. ;

    Under the schema, would you call this a product or an article?
  • bharat thakare: You should use the schema type "WebPage"
  • Rob Baker: +bharat thakare ;I'm wanting to use the Webmaster tools data highlighter and it doesn't have an option for WebPage
  • bharat thakare: In that case consider implementing the schema at code level. Because incorrect schema type implementation will not help.
  • bharat thakare: Rob, I looked at the page. You can go ahead and implement article as well because the webpage is informational.
  • Rob Baker: +bharat thakare ;Yeah, it's difficult to tell - on the one hand I feel like it's an informational article; whilst on the other hand what it describes can be booked on the page itself, so from that perspective it feels like a product. ;
  • Rob Baker: +bharat thakare ;PS how do you know what the webpage is, when I didn't show it!
  • Ian Dixon: it wouldnt by any chance be kulula(dot)com +Rob Baker ;?
  • Rob Baker: +Ian Dixon ;No - if that were the page I'm guessing that it would be a no-brainer that it is a product.
  • bharat thakare: You have mention the website in the About section of your G+ profile :)

    As far as using which schema tag is concerned, you can safely implement Article.
  • Rob Baker: +bharat thakare ;Impressive detective work :)  ;Thank you for your advice, Sir.  ;

    One last question. I've heard something should only use Schema Article, if it is "in-depth".  ;What characteristics would you say an "in-depth" article would have?
  • bharat thakare: You're most welcome :)

    In-depth article does not exist by itself. Its Google's algorithm which classifies an article as in-depth. There are multiple things which it looks at when classifying an article as in-depth, one of them being the Article schema. However, the most important thing it will consider when classifying will still be "content". ;
