Does it make a difference to search engines if a domain is a .jp or a co.jp?

Hi All, Is there any difference to search engines if it`s a .jp or a co.jp ?. I mean which one should I choose to rank well ?. ?

Collin Davis: There is not much difference Iresh .co. I am guessing stands for corporation (correct me in case I am wrong) and is usually taken by companies but more importantly but to answer your question it won't make much difference as far as Seo is concerned.
W.E. Jonk: Since both are ccTLD for Japan and (it used to be? [1) .co.jp is used for a company, which is harder to get I would pick .jp. However you can use any generic TLD [2] and geo-target that to Japan to get the same results. But a ccTLD is very strong signal that the site should be geo-targeted. ;

Iresh Dilan: Thanks a lot for your valuable answers Collin and Jonk. Since this website is for a small hotel and tour arrangement service I will go for a .jp domain. Seems it's easy to register and cheap... ;)
