Recommended way to treat a multilingual website

Hi, I`ve started working for a client that already have a website with 3 language variations using URL language parameters to structure a site.
http://example.com/about-us/ (English version of site)
http://example.com/about-us/?lang=da
http://example.com/about-us/?lang=de I know that this is not a recommended way to treat a multilingual website, from SEO point of view. So what is your recommendation? We are talking about WordPress-based website.

  • Dave Elliott: Domain.com/en-gb/about-us/ is pretty standard. Wordpress is more than capable if dealing with localisation properly.
  • Roman Lakota: Well, pretty sure those lang params are WMPL default. Change your settings. Domain.com/en/ etc...
  • Slavica Nikolić: Ok, I will take a look. Thanks people.
