  • Kenneth Villegas: Hi guys! I have a question regarding same hosting ip address.. I have 3 websites that are related to each other and hosted on the same IP address. So, the question is, is it fine hosting on the same ip address?
  • Federico Sasso: It's a common case in many hosting scenarios, not an issue per-se
  • Kenneth Villegas: Hi @federico Sasso thanks fo the comment..So, the issue here is have shared to other websites and also if both sites have same address, phone number and registrants name right?
  • Federico Sasso: Hi +Kenneth Villegas, my understanding is the only thing it could impact is when one links to another; the value of such links might be discarded by the search engines as it would be evident the sites are associated.
  • Kenneth Villegas: it is actually associated because it has the same Phone number, Address and IP address..
  • Nauman Tayyab: I think you should have different IP
  • Federico Sasso: I honestly wouldn't worry about it. The three sites are associate all right, nothing wrong in itself.
    btw: those who care about building link schemas try to use different block C IP addresses, normally assigned to different organizations.
  • Kenneth Villegas: Here are the 3 sites wwwdotyourpropertyclubdotcom/ check the links in the footer links. ;
  • Kenneth Villegas: they are linking to one another
  • Kenneth Villegas: we just need to use nofollow attribute
  • Federico Sasso: They are brand names, and meant to be of service to the users, I don't think they might be seen as suspicious.

    If you want to play it safe, rel="nofollow" them. They would serve the users the same.

    There's a lot of talk about adding rel="nofollow" on external footer links, but I never found it in Google documentation nor I can recall an official statement about it by a Google representative.
  • Kenneth Villegas: so, this wont affect the sites SEO ranking? even if those links in the footer have the same owner and brand name?
  • Federico Sasso: You already have about 70 links per page, the tiny fraction of link juice shouldn't play a big role.
    I'm not Google so I can't have an absolute truth; imho the benefit of those links is already discarded.
    As I said, I don't think they look suspicious, but if you want to add the rel="canonical" to stay on the safe side, do it and imho it shouldn't change much, not in a measurable way.
  • Kenneth Villegas: ok.. thanks for your help +Federico Sasso ;
  • Unique Websites: A couple of years ago - and Google may well have changed its policy since - a Matt Cutts video said that it was Ok to have three related sites (mens' clothes, womens' clothes and childrens' clothes were the examples given) and to interlink these sites as it could be of use to the readers.

    What you could do if you're worried about the NUMBER of links in the footer of each site, is to say this is part of your group (link to an About Group page on the same site) and to have this About Group page have links to the other ;websites (maybe with a description of what each does).
  • Emmanuel Flossie: Matt Cuts said that if your hosting many websites on the same server that it is fine as long as they are all different niche sites. As stated he says what is the point of having 14 different sites?
  • Kenneth Villegas: I couldn't agree more with you +Unique Websites ; .. +Emmanuel Flossie ;has a better point here and I actually watched that video of Matt Cutts with that statement.. What's the point of separating those related sites if you can combine them on one website since they are all part of "Apparel/Clothing" niche? That means, you are manipulating Google to have a better search engine rankings, which is a bad technique or it is counted as link farming..
  • George Wyngaardt: Hostgator would have been a nightmare if that was the case. It's not a problem
  • Kenneth Villegas: What is your point +George Wyngaardt ;? Did they do the same thing? They actually used static IP.. ;
  • Joseph Paulino: I've seen sites in the same situation and it did not cause any drop search engine rankings.
  • Kenneth Villegas: +Joseph Paulino ;can you give me a sample?:-)
  • Unique Websites: +Kenneth Villegas ;From memory, Matt Cutts said it WAS Ok to have separate websites for a mens', womens' and childrens' clothing site; having three websites all targetting mens' jeans may be more of an issue.
