  Catalin Moraru: +John Smith As usual, Matt Cutts is very vague in his answers, but he never says that duplicate content is ok . If I share your article then automatically content created by me becomes duplicate content. ;He says that duplicate content happens all the time and Google shows first result and the others are "crowded out", whatever that means. So its not a penalty from google but it doesn't show your content either. ;

  Personally if i could bring value to another piece of content then i may add to it, but i would not duplicate, it does not benefit my clients or their users experience.
