  • Mike Stetzer: Can anyone recommend any sort of analytics or usability tools that are free/low cost that can supplement Google Analytics? We unfortunately do not have the budget for some of the tools that I would like to use.
  • Zsolt Bégányi: Whats the problem with analytics? By the way I only know Piwik. Piwik (dot) org. Open source analytics, and FREE!
  • Andy Wigglesworth: Statcounter is free for 'x' amount of stats, but nothing like Google Analytics...

    Depending on your hosts, you might also have the webaliser type stats that look through your log files and generate reports from that.
  • Mike Stetzer: We wanted to use ClickTale and get usability data on users, but it sounds like it will be too expensive. ;
  • Jon Dunn: sessioncam(dot)com is lower cost than clicktale and does session recordings, heat maps, funnel conversions etc etc...
  • Andy Wigglesworth: +Mike Stetzer ;Ignore my previous comment, was just about to shut down and head to bed and didn't read your question right... for some reason I skipped the words 'usability tools' skipped to the beginning of Zsolt's response and went in a care free direction.

    And it's time for me to shut down and goto sleep!
  • Matt Staton: Why do you want usability data on visitors? What's your goal with any of these tools?
  • Tim Capper: Did analytics not just role out a new version that will give you visitor demographics.

    Cant check at the moment I am on mobile
  • Mike Stetzer: So we're in the process of rolling out an entirely different homepage and directory on our site. We want to see how people are engaging with it. It's a pretty huge deviation from anything that we've done in the past. Looking for something like what Jon Dunn mentioned above: tools like Sessioncam or Clicktale.
  • Dave Elliott: yeah analytics now provides gender and age information as well.
