How often should I update my product page copy?

Question: How often should I update my product page copy?
I have several product pages that have ranked and still rank very well with the exception of a few. However, the copy on all my static product pages are a few years old. Does it help to rewrite the copy for these pages? The copy is still relevant and I wouldn`t change it, but I wonder if Google by default thinks that because it hasn`t been updated that it`s old and less useful. Thoughts?

  • Like: Rejigging content won't make too much difference as long as it's unique and relevant. Have you ever considered using PLAs?
  • Matthew Scott: Thanks +Like. I'm sorry but I don't know what PLAs mean. ;

  • Simon Fryer: Hi +Matthew Scott

    In my experience editing copy can lead to very small increases, although results will usually return to normal over time.

    For lasting results you need to enrich the page. This might include adding a video (guide to using the product, FAQ's, or your own review of the product), adding customer reviews to the page, or linking to high quality resources on the subject.

    Hope this helps!
  • Jeff Smith: If there is something new to say or something factually incorrect about the old one, update it; else, nothing.
  • Matthew Scott: Thanks +Simon Fryer & +Jeff Smith. Looks like I won't be doing anything. I'll think about adding a testimonial, but I don't want to overcrowd my product pages.
