Has anyone tried removing domains from a disavow list they`ve submitted and resubmitting the shortened list?

Has anyone tried removing domains from a disavow list they`ve submitted and resubmitting the shortened list? I`m curious about removing some domains that could be legit to recapture the boost we got from those domains. The domains were originally included in an attempt to have a manual spam warning revoked (which was revoked about a month ago).

  • Masatake Wasa: That sounds like a pretty risky strategy: what changed about the links / domains (not actions on your site) between the initial submission of the disavow list and now? Are they better now? Are you happy to run the risk that releasing some of these from the disavow list may lead to another manual penalty again or to an adverse algorithmic adjustment?
  • Shawn Cohen: Yes, I see your point. Nothing would have changed w/ these links/domains but getting a warning revoked can cause an over-aggressive stance so I was just curious if anyone had tried it and what the results where. I definitely agree there's risk involved, though.
  • Mike Stetzer: Seen this question floating around a lot of the forums lately. I would probably err on the side of caution and just leave the disavow file alone.
