Anyone want to take a stab at how Google might deal with 302 redirect?

  Pretty interesting. I'm guessing the aim is to protect brand identity by having bananarepublic.com as the SERP listing whilst selling through the gap store?

  Micah Fisher-Kirshner: +Simon Fryer's point would be the only reason, and only when you feel you cannot have separate domains. Basically where brand > links received.
  
  I personally wouldn't do this and prefer keeping the domains/brands separate, but I don't know the situation as to why they did this in the first place.

  Simon Fryer: It's possible that they want to drive sales through the gap store temporarily without having their homepage deindexed on account of the 301. That's just a theory though. ;

  Micah Fisher-Kirshner: Didn't mention it, but seen this for awhile now, so I don't think this is a temporary change.
