An SEO Question about 301 Redirect

my dumb question for the day.

For local search "my services my town"

If I create a page around "my services my town" and list all my competitors and link to their sites with rel="nofollow" and do a brief description of their services so I end up with the most comprehensive page about "my services my town" then do a 301 redirect to my homepage, what are the odds of achieving better SERPS for the query?

  • Dave Elliott: I would hope your site would get deindexed and banned permanently.
  • Steve Bonin: +Dave Elliott ;so I take it this would not be a good practice.  ;It was just something that formed in my brain as I was contemplating page rank
  • Nishant Desai: I agree with +Dave Elliott ;Avoid doing anything that will ban your website.
  • W.E. Jonk: In general if you make a landing page for local search or whatever make sure to give the user added value. It sounds like you don't want to do that. Many times it makes more sense to get traffic that does convert then to get traffic. That is try to get traffic that is "high quality", just traffic along doesn't really you. Or at least don't forget other business targets that matter for your client, imo.
