Everything looks fine but there was a sudden drop in the number of indexed pages. What could be the problem?

Hello,

in april this year there was a sudden drop in the number of indexed pages. I check with my IT suport and they assured me that there is no problem with: incorrect canonicals, robots.txt or noindex meta, and server was not down or overloaded.

What could be the problem? And what should I check next?

  • Michael Dowling: What about your xml site map? Is it up to date and set up at a reasonable crawl interval? ;
  • Bill Hartzer: I think the problem is that you're asking your IT support people, not your SEO.
  • Ovidiu Burduja: Ana, how did you realise there is a sudden drop in the amount of #indexed #links, from a search on google or via their #webmaster #tools?
  • Ranu Jain: Hi Ana,

    Is there a continuous decrease from April till now? Also, could you please tell me the no. of indexed pages before April and after April?
