Question about Facebook algorithm in links

I have over 1000 followers for one of my clients on Facebook. However, with Facebook`s algorithm, I usually get posts with links shown to less than 20 people.  Anybody figure out how to improve on this?

Although personally I believe there is huge SEO value in Social Media, I don`t know if you guys would consider this an SEO question.  So any recommendations on other groups that specialize in FB algorithms would be appreciated.?

  • Seth Williams: I would love to know the answer to this question as well. I'm getting confused as to what the value of my FB following is when most of them won't even see my posts - what's the point?
  • Gnarly Digital: What kind of content are you posting?
  • Ryan Cramer: I've been trying a combination of things, and watching my "insights" to see what is working. Videos seem to reach the most people, but I can't exactly create a new video all the time.  ;Regular posts are #2, followed by pictures, then last is links.

    I believe deem this an SEO question, because when I post more links, I do seem to get a boost in rankings and visitors.  ;However, the links don't get shown so much in facebook, and although I do multiple posts per day, of different types and during scheduled peak times, I hardly reach 100 people?

    I mix the content of the posts up too... some are "ads" for the deals for the client, some are inspirational quotes (in picture and text formats), some are funny, some are "how was your day" type questions, some ask specifically for people to engage.  ;

    I've almost gotten to the point where I feel I can do a video of myself in my underwear singing "I'm a little teapot" and no one would notice!  ;But seriously, because I started to do the engagement-rich posts late in the game after months of just posting links, I have a feeling that I got sandboxed by Facebook.
  • Gnarly Digital: Sounds like a good mix of content. Are you getting any engagement from them?

    I'm in a similar position to you. I post a mixture of content on my Facebook page, some days it can reach 10 people and other times over 200 (under 300 fans). I've tried self sharing to give posts a kickstart, but struggling to get any real engagement.

    On the other hand my wife's cupcake page reach and engagement is totally fine. She complains at sub 300 reach (2000 fans).
  • Ryan Cramer: This is something that I've gotten frustrated with for a couple months.... trying to figure it out has taken time away from my other SEO duties, but I believe solving it is a huge key in today's market.

    I've done the timing thing, the hashtag thing, the pics, videos, posts, links thing... pretty much everything people have recommended.  ;I just created a new page to see if doing these things from the start would help, but it's too soon to tell.  ;Perhaps if I hadn't done the paid advertising on Facebook and stayed with the organic building, I'd have better percentages of people engaging?

    If you look at my latest personal post, you'll see what I'm trying next - taking it from the side of the customer instead of the page owner.
