Does schema.org and scamatic mark up on sites have a big impact on SEO?

  What's everyone's thoughts on schema.org and scamatic mark up on sites, does it have a big impact on SEO, or is it more for authorship recognition? I'm currently having some performed on my blog, but just want to know how much time I should throw at it. Cheers James.

  Ryan Cramer: Well since GWT devotes a section to "structured data", I assume that there is some value to using the schema markup, but can't say I really have seen much real world results from it.
  
  As a programmer, I am really comfortable with having something like this to define a pre-set format of data.  ;You aren't limited to just meta info in your header, but in-line with your content such as addresses, company information, recipes, etc. ;
  
  Although those standards are set up, for some reason, I've found using normal markup, both old and html5 tags, seem to be more beneficial... like using fieldset=>legend instead of normal divs or dl=>dd tags instead of ul=>li.  ;
  
  I, too, would like to see if anyone else has benefited from the schema tags.
