I need advice on how to maximize SEO Efforts for small website

  sitemap speeds up the indexing process and when updated, speeds up google and other search engines, feed, and crawlers to notify when there is a change.  ;There are some creative things you can do with the sitemap to really optimize crawl and index rates
  
  The message to "link to your page from within your site" could mean there is a redirect (maybe www vs non-www) , no-follows, or you're really not doing internal linking.  ;In any case, if this leads Google to believe you only have a one page site or hiding your pages, you might have problems.  ;Internal links are a good indicator of what you want google to see is the relative and important links.
  
  A few months ago, I had a couple sections of a WP site that I had removed from navigation but were still in sitemaps. I found this out when trying to troubleshoot a drop in visitors. One section needed to be deleted, the other needed the internal navigation again.
