As far as SEO is concerned, we know that if we use copied content that we will not get the full value for it, and may even get penalized. That alone should keep you from worrying about someone else stealing your content.
But what's more, and I haven't seen this documented or spoken of anywhere, if you are the first to publish the content and have it indexed, then you get authority credit when someone uses your content. I've seen in the past where an authority in my client's industry copied content from my client's site and my client's site received the benefit from it.
So creating unique content and getting it indexed first is a win-win, especially if someone plagiarized your content.

Ryan Cramer: +happysus sait ;, As a PHP/MySQL programmer, I often write more efficient, customized code than most plugins can provide. ;But that takes time, so I usually don't ask "how" it should be done, but "if" it should be done.
In this case, I believe that if you set other things up right, competition stealing your content will actually benefit you. ;On the other hand, if you have a plug-in the masks your content so others can't copy, you'll also be looking at content that Google can't index.
