Dumb SEO Questions

(Entry was posted by Dark Arts Guild on this post in the Dumb SEO Questions community on Facebook, 09/05/2014).

If I remove PHP in search, the page does not show.

Ran into a problem with a website page I`ve never seen before and I`m wondering if anyone else has encountered it. The only time I see the newly added page in Google search is when I add PHP to the search query (example: My New Page PHP). If I remove PHP in search the page does not show, why? I am baffled by this.

  • Greg Baka: Can you share the URL? ; Just put (dot)com in place of the .com to make it not be a link.
  • Dark Arts Guild: Sure. ;http://www.janneyindustrialpainting(dot)com/Baltimore-Industrial-Painting-Contractor.php
  • Mark Steenbakkers: The new page is showing in the search results it simply doesn't rank very high. If you refine you search ("Use quotes") to be exact it does show up in the results. You already have a news page that does rank for these keywords, Google tends to only show one page per domain on the first page.
  • Dark Arts Guild: Thank you. And why do you think it is not ranking very well?
  • Mark Steenbakkers: The page does show up in the results, so Google indexed the page. ; If you use the page title words as a search query your page with the "6 smart questions" has a higher ranking then your new page. If you do the same search "your title" both pages are shown. Or use "search tools" > "last week". You published your article about a week ago, probably it just needs a bit more time to outrank your existing page.
  • Mark Steenbakkers: Your "6 smart question" page doesn't have the .php extension, so that's why the new page will show up if you add "php".

The cuetimes listed on this page are functional while the live broadcast continues and also once Youtube has finished processing the public broadcast. Processing time varies between 6-24 hours. During this period the clip is viewable in full but the cuetimes cannot be relied on.
