I am trying to rank for certain service area spanning 2 counties.

I am trying to rank for certain service area spanning 2 counties, each with a total of 350 towns and neighborhoods. A wild guess: 200 different zip codes. How do I describe this area best on the website alone? Using a Google+ business page it`s easy: list the zip codes or take a center and a radius around it.
But do I really end up listing 350 neighborhoods on a single page? That`s going to look really ugly. Ideally, I`d hope to just name those two counties and be done with it.?

  • Edwin Jonk: I wouldn't start from the number of zip codes. I would start with the number of offices/shops. That is, I would try to optimize the real business place. Because if you are going to optimize for zip codes you need to automate things and thereby it may look spammy. In other words, I would go for quality over quantity.
  • Janine Marriott: Hi, how many actual business places do you have covering this area? To best describe them on your website, I agree with +Edwin Jonk, go for quality not quantity. Each business area should have its own optimised  ;landing page and/or contact page where you can detail the zip codes. I would then have a separate G+ local page for each individual business, linking to the relevant business page so you would have less zip codes on each one and also optimise it better. To draw the user to the fact you cover this area, I would have on the home page, for example ' 5 business locations' , list them and have a link to the individual pages. I hope this makes sense.
  • E.Dieter Martin: Thanks, +Edwin Jonk ;and +Janine Marriott ;. It is a single business location. It is not actually a storefront or an office, but a service oriented business. They visit their customers. Sorry for that missing piece of information.

  • E.Dieter Martin: Thanks +Tim Capper ;. I've played with the thought of "hiding" the locations in content in the past. It seems a pretty elegant way and has probably a few more positive side effects.
