Dumb SEO Questions

Consider a way to implement negative keyword requests.

This is a hypothetical question, I am a big proponent of the implementation of negative keywords for use in organic search, much like how they are used in Adwords. (Think ) I don`t really know why it`s not used but IF IT WERE USED (hypothetically), how might one go about implementing negative keywords, or what could be a reasonable method for search engines to start considering negative keyword requests (my fictional "negkeywords" tag was just an example). Any thoughts, insight, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Another way to answer my question is to put yourself in the search engine`s shoes and consider a way to implement negative keyword requests. How would you do it? Additionally, what drawbacks could there be (blackhat, spam, misuse)??

    The cuetimes listed on this page are functional while the live broadcast continues and also once Youtube has finished processing the public broadcast. Processing time varies between 6-24 hours. During this period the clip is viewable in full but the cuetimes cannot be relied on. ;

  • Devin Peterson: The negative keyword search tool is quite a bit different than what I was referencing, that`s a tool for the searcher not the webmaster. Additionally, simply `leaving out` words doesn`t always work. A great example is referenced here (http://www.ecreativeim.com/blog/2011/07/i-want-a-negative-keyword-meta-tag/)

    Another real life example is my site which sells inflatable rafts and not-inflatable dinghies, but we get hits for "inflatable dinghies". This term has a high bounce rate and provides a bad experience for anyone searching for inflatable dinghies. We also sell knives and necklaces in separate categories so sometimes we rank for "neck knives" but we don`t have them. Just another example where I can`t just avoid using the keywords, yet the particular webpage is irrelevant to that term.
